Committee Structure

There are several committees which are part of the core strategic function of the Governing Body.

The Code of Conduct lists the major strategic functions required of Governing Bodies and we consider the best way of achieving this is through Committees which report to Governors.

We, as a Governing Body, have 3 key roles :

  1. To set the Strategic Direction

  2. To hold the Head Teacher to account for the educational  performance

  3. To oversee the financial effectiveness of the School, making sure that the money is well spent.

We believe by having 2 full Governors meetings each term and by having Committees to scrutinise the curriculum, standards, finance and appraise the Head Teacher we are well equipped to fulfil the strategic core function of Governance.

Link Governors

The Governors’ aim is to work towards a vision that the children at our School will get the best possible education, that they will be happy and safe and enjoy their time at school. The Governors “will support and challenge rigorously”. This is the role of the Link Governor who will work closely with Lead members of staff who are concerned with:

  • Delivering the curriculum and maintaining standards. There are 3 stages - Lower (Nursery, Reception and Year One ), Middle (Year 2, 3 and 4 ) and Upper ( Year 5 and 6) and a separate responsibility for Pupil Premium.

  • The areas concerned with Child Safety and Well-being

  • The religious life of the School, including delivery of the RE Curriculum.

The table below shows the designated key areas, the Link Governors and the Lead Teacher/s.
